How do I setup XOGO Time, Temp and News URLs for free using overlays?

XOGO offers free Time, Temperature and News URLs that you can display on top of your content using overlays. Each widget is a web URL that you can personalize to suit your screens.

What Are Overlays?

Overlays let you show dynamic information, like time, temperature and news, on top of your regular content without interrupting your playlist.

Step-by-Step Video Tutorial:

Our video guide shows you how to create new overlays and apply them to your content https://youtu.be/x561xfLJXzw.

Available Free Widgets:

How to set up a widget in Overlay

  1. Copy the URL for the widget you want from the list above.

  2. Log in to XOGO Manager and open Overlays.

  3. Create a new overlay or open an existing one, then add a Web Surface.

  4. Make sure the dropdown is set to https://, then paste the URL into the Web Surface URL field without the https:// at the start.

  5. Set the X Position and Y Position to choose where the widget appears on screen.

  6. Set the Width and Height to size the widget.

  7. Set the Refresh Interval (seconds) to control how often the widget updates, for example 60.

  8. Click Save, then apply the overlay to your player.

Customize your widget URL for Overlay

Each URL is dynamic, so you can change how the widget looks by editing parts of the URL itself:

  • Font: Change FontFamily=Arial to another font, for example FontFamily=Helvetica.

  • Font size: Change fontSize=13pt to the size you want, for example fontSize=18pt.

  • Background color: Replace the code after bg= (currently 011E52) with your own hex color code. Leave out the # symbol.

  • 12 or 24-hour time (Date & Time only): ampm=true shows AM/PM. Change it to ampm=false for 24-hour time.

  • Fahrenheit or Celsius (Weather only): tempType=f shows Fahrenheit. Change it to tempType=c for Celsius.

Change the location (Date & Time and Weather)

  1. Open Google Maps and find your location.

  2. Right-click the spot on the map. The GPS coordinates appear at the top of the menu. Click them to copy.

  3. In the widget URL, find location=Slayton|43.99042|-95.75473|.

  4. Replace the town name, latitude and longitude with your own, keeping the | separators. For example: location=Chicago|41.87811|-87.62980|

Notes

  • Pro license required: Overlays are available with a Pro license.

  • Don’t change the code= part: This section of the URL must stay exactly as it is, or the widget won’t load.

  • Standalone widgets: The URLs shared here are only for use with Overlays. They are not to be confused with built in widgets available.
