In January 2022 logic was added to avoid a transition if only a single asset exists in a playlist. This avoids the need to extend the duration as previously advised. The use of an overlay (below) still works well and provides more control over the refresh rate URL assets.
Using an Overlay: You can also upload your image as an overlay, in which case there will never be any image transitions.
