XOGO Application updates and Chrome Device Management

Updated over a month ago

Our digital signage solution relies on two key components: Chrome OS and the XOGO Player application, both of which receive periodic updates. While update issues are rare, code changes can occasionally cause unexpected behavior.

Recommendations to Ensure Stability

To minimize risks, we suggest the following approach:

1. Pin Chrome OS

  • Lock your devices to a specific version of Chrome OS using Chrome Device Management.

  • This prevents automatic updates until you are ready to test.

2. Pin the XOGO Player Application

  • Similarly, pin the XOGO Player app to its current version.

  • This allows you to control precisely when updates are applied.

3. Incremental Testing

  • Test updates on a single device by upgrading to the latest version of Chrome OS or the XOGO Player application.

  • Verify performance before rolling out updates across your entire fleet.

Benefits of This Approach

  • This strategy may add some administrative overhead, but it significantly reduces the risk of disruptions.

  • You can manage these settings directly in Chrome Device Management.

  • Extensive online documentation is available for pinning versions of Chrome OS and applications.
