What should I do if my XOGO Mini 2B shows a red light and no HDMI signal on startup?

If your XOGO Mini 2B shows a red light on startup with no green blink and no signal on your screen, here's how to narrow down the cause.

Steps:

  1. Swap the HDMI cable you're using, and try both HDMI ports on the device.

  2. If you have another Mini 2B available, test the same cable and screen with that device to help isolate whether the issue is the cable or the unit.

  3. Remove the SD card and check that it's readable on a computer, to confirm it isn't corrupted.

  4. Watch the green LED during startup - it should blink while booting, then turn off once idle.

  5. If the green LED never lights at all, remove the SD card and re-image it: download Balena Etcher, download the latest XOGO Mini 2B firmware, burn the firmware to the SD card, then reinsert it and power the device back on. The first boot after re-imaging takes longer than usual.

  6. If the device still won't boot after re-imaging, try a different SD card to check whether the card or the device's port is at fault.

Notes:

  • Still no green light after all steps? This points to a hardware fault in the device that isn't fixable remotely.

  • Consider an upgrade: if the device turns out to be faulty, XOGO Mini Max is worth a look - it's Android-powered and offers better performance than the Mini 2B.
